The Results are in!
Transcript
Over the last few months I have run an electorate wide survey asking local residents what their main concerns are. Along with where do they hope to see Canberra in the next 10 to 20 years.
The results were not surprising. At the top of the list was the lack of urban maintenance and upkeep, followed by tackling local crime. Then rates, and ACT government fees and charges, and then following that the lack of health services in the Gungahlin region.
In terms of where local residents would like to see Canberra in the next 10 to 20 years the results were interesting. Most said they want to see Canberra as a thriving capital city. They want to see Canberra as a clean and tidy city. And they want to see Canberra as having a diverse economy, and finally a safe place for children to grow up.
Overall, Canberra is looking run down. The public areas are unkempt, whilst rates remain high, it’s becoming unaffordable to live in Canberra. Considering the high rates we pay, there’s no greater services being delivered for local residents from this government.
This is a small snapshot of the responses that we received from this survey. And I think it’s time that this government starts listening to the people of Canberra.
And finally, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete this important survey. It certainly gives me a greater understanding and enables me to better represent our community.
Thanks for watching.
