Part time – $80,572 per year, full time equivalent
James Milligan MLA is looking for a highly motivated and well organised Junior Adviser to provide administrative, communication and electorate support.
Specific duties and hours worked will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Possible Responsibilities include:
- Provide high level administrative support to the Member
- Respond to electorate correspondence from constituents
- Supporting electorate activities
- Undertake research of a generally standardised nature
- Assistance with events
- Liaise with Parliamentary and community stakeholders
- Preparation of newsletters, speeches, discussion papers and media releases

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to multi-task
- Team player with interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- to exercise sound judgement, discretion and perform at a high standard under limited supervision
- Demonstrated capacity to followed instructions from supervisors to complete tasks efficiently and effectively
Desirable Skills
- High level organisation/diary management skills
- Familiarity with the Microsoft suite (particularly Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Digital and/or social media skills
- Previous experience in a client service environment

This position is offered under the Legislative Assembly (Members’ Staff) Act 1989 and conditions are outlined in the ACT Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026.
This position will have a probationary period of six (6) months. An initial contract will be offered until 30 June 2026.
