My vision is to make Yerrabi a fun and safe place to live, with high standards of services, facilities and amenities so we can take pride in their community. I want it to be a place for business to flourish so that there is greater opportunities for residents to achieve their goals.
As one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, I want Yerrabi to be leading the way for Canberra and I have faith in the abilities and strengths of our community to make this happen.
It is a great honour to represent the people of Yerrabi in the ACT Legislative Assembly. As a local member, working and living in Gungahlin, I have strong connections and passion about our local community. Over the past two years I have worked hard to consult and communicate with the residents so that I can highlight to the current Labor Greens government the facilities and infrastructure we desperately need in our suburbs.
A Focus on the Community
There is no doubt that Gungahlin has been short changed over many years under Labor. The Gungahlin Town Centre suffers from low patronage caused by locals having to go elsewhere for work, and an old master plan which has failed to move with the times. I will continue to champion the needs of our local area – including the forgotten suburbs of Belconnen.
A Knowledge of Small Business
As an experienced and long time small business owner, I understand the importance of small business to the local community. Whilst in parliament, I will continue to work towards helping to make Canberra Australia’s leading small to medium business hub.
A Passion for Sport
Whilst on the Gungahlin Community Council, I raised for the first time the need for Gungahlin residents to have access to an indoor sporting centre. Canberra has lost a number of key sporting venues. As an avid sportsman, I will be working to support the needs of the sports community in Canberra.
A Focus on Outcomes
Coming from a business background, my focus is always on getting things done, looking for the most effective and efficient way forward to achieve the best result. I have a record of working with the community, with groups and organisations to make things happen rather than just talking about them.
