Multipurpose Indoor Sports Facility for Tuggeranong
A Canberra Liberals Government will build a new home for athletes in the southside with an indoor multi-purpose sports complex. The new $12.3 million facility is fully costed and recognises the growing demand for sport by so many south Canberra families.
The Tuggeranong Netball Association has the highest rate of youth participation in the ACT region growing 20 per cent since 2015, while around 2,500 players use the outdoor courts every Saturday.
We’re committed to backing our local athletes and sports communities by giving them the facilities they need to develop their talent.
This announcement represents the importance of a multi-sport venue encouraging an active lifestyle for people of all ages and abilities, in particular women and girls.
This multi-sport facility is aimed at being the home ground for many different sports and clubs in the Tuggeranong Valley, many of whom have large membership but no venue in which to train appropriately. We will welcome these sports to call the Tuggeranong Sports Complex home and will be geared to maximise whole community participation.
