Tuggeranong Vikings Bowling Club
Last week I had the privilege of having a coffee and a bowl of wedges with Reg Bates at the Tuggeranong Vikings Club. Reg recently won the Heart of the Community award from Clubs ACT for his service to the Tuggeranong Vikings Lawn Bowls Club.
Reg has given more than 25 hours a week, every week for over 17 years and also works on a range of local charities and causes as a member of the Vikings. His passion and spirit for his club is outstanding.Sitting there, chatting about his beloved Club he was genuinely worried about what the future holds with the changes to the Community Contributions Scheme. Lawn Bowls is already heavily subsidised by the Vikings with hundreds of thousands of dollars spent maintaining the greens, employing greens keepers, providing facilities for the club, spaces for events, keeping food and beverage costs low.
This week I spoke about Reg, the Tuggeranong Vikings Bowling Club and the impact these changes will have to Community Clubs and local sport in the Assembly. To see the full speech, follow this link.
