Local Crime Concerns Continue

Over the past few months there has been a noticeable spike in the number of property thefts and also over the hot summer months, car fires. Add to this the fact Gungahlin Police Station is grossly understaffed, and you can understand why the community is concerned.

Light Rail Motion

Continuing the fight for local businesses affected by Light Rail Stage 1 construction, I fought hard for a motion in the Legislative Assembly this month that called on the Government to implement the lessons learnt that were identified in their own report.

This Legislative Assembly sitting week I was able to fight for the residents of Yerrabi as this Government tried to fob us off with yet another ‘study’. We all know Gungahlin needs a vibrant, multipurpose community centre so let’s crack on and build it.

Canberra’s own Jazzy Jumpers Rope Skipping Club, based in Amaroo, have come back from the World Jump Rope Championships held in Orlando, Florida, USA last month with 21 medals!

Recently the Canberra Times reported that the Gundaroo Drive stage 1 works are now 18 months behind schedule. For locals, this means an additional 18 months that they have had to endure increased traffic congestion, longer commute times and dangerous roadworks.
